| GALLERY TWO - Animals - 1997-2001
My oil-on-canvas animal paintings, most of which I created under my former name Judy Dutcher, have proven to be very popular. Perhaps that's because I paint them whimsically rather than realistically.
For instance, I don't always rely on the colors that nature provides. Various species, I feel, are in need of a serious makeover.
Hence, you will see a giraffe in a pleasing green, a hippo in a very becoming shade of blue, and a leaping tiger in a chic lavender. Some of the titles reflect what I heard the animals say to me as I painted them, such as: "Are you talking to me?" and "I'll think about that and get back to you." and "It's a jungle out there."
Listen closely, and maybe you'll hear them speak to you.
